I have been waiting for the wintering finches to arrive. They usually arrive in December and they are mostly redpolls. I was very surprised to see a Pine Grosbeak in October, though some have been reported in southern Alberta.
I saw this Pine Grosbeak this morning in the woods across the road from my house. The Pine Grosbeak is a Life Bird,
Glad you added this one to your life list Prairie Birder! These use to visit my feeders along with Evening Grosbeaks when I lived a little further North.
Yours in birds,
Kristen Martyn
Thank you. I’ve never seen Evening Grosbeaks but I’m hoping to see them some time this winter.
Congratulations of the life list bird!
I remember seeing Redpolls when I was young in Ohio, they are an occasional winter visitor. I’d like to see them again :)
Congrats!
